When most of us hear the word philanthropy, we only think of financial gifts. In reality, philanthropy includes gifts of time, talent and treasure. One of the Foundation’s main purposes is to promote all means of philanthropy. To promote gifts of time and talent in our community, the Community Foundation created the Helping Hands Awards in 2009.
The Helping Hands Awards are held annually in April to coincide with National Volunteer Week. Nonprofit organizations from throughout the community are invited to recognize their top volunteers in both the adult and youth categories. These nominees are each recognized for their outstanding service to the organization during the ceremony. In addition, a panel of judges selects the top adult and youth volunteers whose organization then receives an unrestricted grant from the Community Foundation.
