Scholarships

Benton Community Foundation currently hosts seven scholarship programs including the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program which is funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. Each scholarship program has its own application procedure, selection criteria, and selection committee. Scholarship funds are an excellent gifting vehicle for memorializing a loved one or honoring a special person. Individuals or groups can create an endowment that will provide scholarships in perpetuity from the earnings of the fund or, on the other hand, create a pass-through fund that will provide scholarship assistance for a specific period of time. The founding contributors can advise the Board on the selection of the recipients or can assign the responsibility of selection to the Board's scholarship committee. There is considerable flexibility in establishing a scholarship fund that makes this form of giving back to the community particularly attractive to potential donors.
